Transferring Prearrangements

Can you switch funeral homes after you have started with the arrangments? (AM 640 clip)

Prearranged funerals are simple and easy to transfer from one service provider to another. If you find that you would like Basic Funerals to take over your prearrangement, but you have already prearranged a funeral or cremation service elsewhere, just contact one of our funeral directors to transfer the entire prearrangement to us. All funds deposited for a prearranged funeral are invested with either an institution like TD Canada Trust, or an insurance company like Assurant Life of Canada. Depending on how the funds were invested, any excess funds due to our price being less than your current funeral home, will be returned to you at the time of transfer, or to the estate after the services are provided.
